Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data GearUp collects, why, and what rights you have. GearUp is operated by Subramanian J H (the "data controller"). If you have any question or request about your data, contact subramanian@gearup.study.

Data we collect

Payment information

Payments are handled by our payment processors (Stripe and, for India, Razorpay). Your card or bank details are entered with them, not with us, and we do not receive or store your full payment details. We receive only confirmation of a successful payment and the items purchased.

Why we use your data and our legal basis

We use your data to create and run your account and deliver the books you buy (to perform our contract with you), to send essential emails such as your login details and receipts (to perform our contract), to keep the Service secure and improve it (our legitimate interests), and, where relevant, to send optional updates only if you have agreed (your consent, which you can withdraw at any time).

Who processes your data for us

We use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf: Supabase (database, login, and file storage), Stripe and Razorpay (payments), Resend (sending email), and Vercel (website hosting). Some of these providers may process data outside your country, including outside the EU; where that happens, appropriate safeguards are applied. We do not sell your personal data.

Cookies and local storage

We use only essential browser storage, for example to keep you logged in and to remember the items in your cart. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking for advertising.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove your personal data, except anything we must keep for legal or accounting reasons such as records of a purchase.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, and in particular under the EU GDPR, you have the right to access the data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to certain processing, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent you have given. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. To exercise any of these, email subramanian@gearup.study and we will respond.

Children

GearUp is intended for university-age students and adults and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version, with its date, is always posted on this page.
